2. Kansas City (12-4, AFC West champion)

3. Pittsburgh (11-5, AFC North champion)

4. Houston (9-7, AFC South champion)

5. Oakland (12-4)

National Football Conference

1. Dallas (13-3, NFC East champion)

2. Atlanta (11-5, NFC South champion)

3. Seattle (10-5-1, NFC West champion)

4. Green Bay (10-6, NFC North champion)

5. New York Giants (11-5)

6. Detroit (9-7)

New England head into the post-season as hot 7/4 favourites to win a second Super Bowl in the last three years. Their regular season record means the road to Houston next month goes through Foxboro with the Patriots traditionally a tough nut to crack at this time of year on home turf.

Dallas are next in the betting on 7/2 as they hope to continue a tremendous run of form behind star rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott with Pittsburgh and Atlanta both on offer at 8/1.

Green Bay and Kansas City are dangerous teams for anyone to face and are 9/1 to go all the way with Seattle currently trading at 11/1 as they bid to repeat their triumph of 2014.

NFL Play-off Teams Guide: At-a-glance

AFC

New England (7/4)

Super Bowl wins: 2002, 2005 and 2015

Key player: Tom Brady

Posted the best record (14-2) in the NFL and market leaders to give quarterback Brady and head coach Bill Belichick a fourth Lombardi Trophy.

Kansas City (9/1)

Super Bowl wins: 1970

Key player: Tyreek Hill

Won the AFC West after a tremendous season-long battle with Oakland and an extremely good all-round team with no glaring weakness.

Pittsburgh (8/1)

Super Bowl wins: 1975, 1976, 1979, 1980, 2006 and 2009

Key player: Le'Veon Bell

Plenty of Super Bowl pedigree and a dangerous offense led by quarterback Ben Roethlisberger which no rival will want to face.

Houston (50/1)

Super Bowl wins: None

Key player: Jadeveon Clowney

Huge issues at quarterback currently so a defense led by the incredibly athletic Clowney will need to continue its play at a high level if they are to make any impact.

Oakland (100/1)

Super Bowl wins: 1977, 1981 and 1984

Key player: Khalil Mack

Youthful improvers but there chance suffered a hammer blow when quarterback Derek Carr suffered a broken leg recently. Unproven rookie Connor Cook takes over.

Miami (100/1)

Super Bowl wins: 1973 and 1974

Key player: Jay Ajayi

Good effort under rookie head coach Adam Gase to reach this stage and will still have to spring another surprise or two to get to the Super Bowl

NFC

Dallas (7/2)

Super Bowl wins: 1972, 1978, 1993, 1994 and 1996

Key player: Dak Prescott

Brilliant campaign as rookie quarterback Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott proved massive hits. More unchartered territory now but have continually risen to the occasion.

Atlanta (8/1)

Super Bowl wins: None

Key player: Julio Jones

High-octane offense capable of scoring at will when the mood takes them while they have more playmakers on defense this year. Lost their only Super Bowl appearance in 1999 but every right to fancy their chances again.

Seattle (11/1)

Super Bowl wins: 2014

Key player: Bobby Wagner

Perennial contenders these days but perhaps not quite as sharp this season - still more than capable of making their presence felt.

Green Bay (9/1) -

Super Bowl wins: 1967, 1968, 1997 and 2011

Key player: Aaron Rodgers

Form dipped in mid-season but finished strongly with six straight victories. Quarterback Rodgers at the top of his game and leading candidates based on that factor alone.

New York Giants (20/1)

Super Bowl wins: 1987, 1991, 2008 and 2012

Key player: Odell Beckham Jr

Rather erratic but exciting to watch and capable of a good run in the post-season if getting up a head of steam.

Detroit (50/1)

Super Bowl wins: None

Key player: Ziggy Ansah

Lost three straight to end the regular season and their big price for the Super Bowl suggests they will be overmatched sooner rather than later.
