Thats starts today and although England qualified i doubt we will see much success from them in this tournament.


The surprise favs are the USA who have done well in the womens game over the last few years but for me the stand out team has to be...


GERMANY....and at around 4/1 they are outstanding value in my opinion..


HOLLAND might surprise a few especially in the group stage and at 6/1 look a decent bet to WIN GROUP A ......and at 80/1 are worth an E/W bet to make the final at 1/3 odds.

Well what a 1/4 final that was.....

It surprises me how good and how much effort these women put in compared to our mens national teams...


The French should have won the game in 90 mins but after going 1-0 up they were a bit unlucky to give away a pen with 7 mins left.

Then in extra time at the end they missed a glorious chance and the game ended 1-1 and onto pens..

We ll as they say "The Germans never loose a penalty shootout" and with the score at 5-4 to the Germans with all those penalties being top class the last French girl hit a poor pen which the keeper easily got down to and Germany progressed to the semi finals where they will play the winners of China v USA.

It was a very entertaining game to watch and maybe the men need to take a look at what playing in finals should mean..

Semi Final..

USA 2 GERMANY 0


The Germans went out after another poor display and at 1-0 missed a penalty their first miss from the spot in the last 17 pens.

The USA then got awarded one and when they scored to make it 2-0 with little time left this time the Germans couldnt provide the great escape and are on their way home..

So now lets get behind ENGLAND who play the very useful Japan in tonights other semi final that kicks off at just after midnight and can be seen on BBC1
