CT's Good, Not Bad and Ugly Cricket Bets
Just thought id start my own little section regarding some of my "good" or probably "not so good" Betting tips if you all fancy a bit of cricket betting.
Australia vs England (2nd Test) Top Australian 1st Innings Runscorer Good Bet - Ricky Ponting 7/2 on Paddy Power - What can i say about "Punter", tremendous captain when he bats in a "Geoff Boycott im in it for myself" mode, but his tenure as captain will be all but over if England retain the Ashes for the first time down under since 1986/87 (And wouldn't it be funny if he cries like Kim Hughes did when he stepped down as Aussie Captain! o:D) Not Bad Bet - Steve Smith 16/1 on Paddy Power - More of batting all-rounder then a bowling one and he made 59 and 0 when a very poor Australia A side got thumped 10 wickets by England in the first tour match of the winter schedule but after Mitchell Johnson's very feeble effort with both bat and ball in the 1st test at the Gabba, i can honestly see Johnson being replaced by Steve Smith and it would certainly bolster what looks in my opinion a very weak Aussie batting tail. Ugly Bet - Mitchell Johnson 50/1 on Paddy Power - Makes Mike Whitney look very good against Sir Ian Botham at Old Trafford in 1981! o:D. If on a very long shot Johnson is in the side for the 2nd test then to stay in the squad he would have to take 5 wickets and score at least 70 runs but i cannot see that happening and he could well join an illustrious list of very average left-arm fast bowlers that have played for Australia!. |
Nice one CT
Well I know cricket like Tony knows fishing, o:D
So I'll be guided by you for a small bet for Friday ... Glk us :loveme: |
Well cricket is one sport i do like to punt heavily on.....
But only one day games where theres only two possible outcomes... I always back the outsider and find there is good value in doing so. As for the Ashes i have had a little bet on a drawn series which after the first test looks a decent call.... |
New Zealand at 2/1 look a decent bet in tomorrows one day game against India...
Sky sports live at 9.30am..... |
Im risking life and limb and freezing to death up here and your in a warm place planning on watching the twitting indians play cricket at 9-30am tmorro,Im logging off so I can swear and pull my hair out, hope it snows for forty days and forty nights down there. gl

Haha Taylor you know us Southern softies....bit of snow and works off...8-P |
Well after making a few quid by betting on an 3-1 victory in the Tests, i think its certainly going to be a lot tougher to have any successful bets in the ODI series. Last time around when England last toured Australia, we wont talk about the 5-0 drubbing but it was a different kettle of fish in the old Commonwealth Bank 3 team World Series as England outplayed both Australia and New Zealand.
Now as its just a head to head 7 match series, i feel personally it could be a lot more open however 1 lucky game for the Aussies does not make them a great team and i think this could your best correct score bet: England 5-2 Series Victory - 8/1 |
Cheers Craig .. o:D
|
Im on a good run with the cricket the last few weeks....B (:
Got rather lucky with India yesterday who looked beat when they were 115/5 needing another 110 runs with 15 overs left... Luckily they got there with a bit to spare...:loveme: ENGLAND @ 5/4 INDIA @ 5/4 Both to win Fridays one days....:brains: |
With the county cricket season just over 2 months away, i thought i'd put on my predictions for who will win what this year:
LVCC Div 1 - Yorkshire (6/1 on Paddy Power - Only problem could be England call-ups but if the Yorkies get lucky and i'm typing this through gritted teeth and avoid injuries then I think this could be a banker in my opinion!) LVCC Div 2 - Glamorgan (11/2 on Paddy Power - There has been a lot of on and off the field problems with Glamorgan but i watched them beat my beloved Lancashire 2 years ago at the Swalec in Cardiff and they have a lot of good young players and they will certainly be one to watch out for and i would highly advise not backing Surrey at 4/1 as for me they are too much an over-rated unit that had several lucky wins last year especially in the Pro-40) Pro-40 League - Lancashire (I know i've got to be biased somewhere but I just think that if the side can stay free of injuries, the so called "top-order" can get some serious runs on the board, I honestly believe Lancashire could win their first MAJOR trophy in over 11 years!) 20/20 Cup - Lancashire or Somerset |
Nice stuff there CT ...
I will follow your predictions with interest... Im looking forward to the 20/20 tournement coming up and hopefully landing a few nice bets...8-P |
hmmm
good luck guys , :h?: Is that the game where at the end he say's
"If you build it , he will come" !!! B (: :loveme: get in ! |
Nice 1 CT may have some multible bets what do you recommend m8 dtw

YORKSHIRE TO WIN THE CC + SOMERSET TO WIN THE PRO 40 I really do think there is a great chance with that as both sides will be there or there about in the respective competitions! ;-) |
Thanks CT  B (:
|
I certainly think the latter prediction of Somerset to win the CB40 is looking a lot more better than my prediction of the Yorkies to win the LVCC Div 1!.
For the next few weeks its the joys of the Friends Life T20 and obviously I would love to see Lancashire win (12/1 on Skybet) but I am going to go for an outsider and certainly one of these counties that you would regard as "unfashionable" and that is: NORTHAMPTONSHIRE - 18/1 on Skybet No major league superstars in the side but a very good workman-like team and one to certainly watch out for!...... |
I was on Hampshire last night at 11/8 and tonight im on Durham at around even money..
Usually bet the outsiders as i think the 20/20 games are really a "pick'em" bet...:brains: |
The second half of the Clydesdale Bank 40 League begins next week and some interesting odds on Skybet for the winners of the competition.
Without doubt my 2 bismarcks (sp) for this has to be: Essex at 6/1 Nottinghamshire at 14/1 Essex always seem to have a good campaign in the group stages but when they get to the latter stages they seem to somewhat choke and Nottinghamshire despite being the reigning County Champions and probably the best side in English domestic cricket have had a woeful season in all forms of the game and cannot honestly see them doing much. I am sticking with my original prediction of Somerset to win the CB40 although being biased me I am tempted to have a wacky wager on my beloved Lancashire at 50/1 mainly because the team are in form in all competitions and both Essex and Somerset who are in Lancashire's group have to come to Old Trafford and get a result and I personally think there could be a sting in the tail with who reaches the semi final from that group!. |
Evening all
Hope everyone is doing well!....... Well it's that time of the year again where coming soon it will be T20 Finals day and for the first time it will be staged at the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff. The Two SF's are the following Somerset vs Hampshire and Sussex vs Yorkshire My opinions on who will win the T20 this year, for me all 4 sides have very good cases to win this however due to overall finals day experience and probably on paper the slighty better record I would have tip Sussex for the win (2/1 on Paddy Power) however the only side never to reach finals day before this year, let alone win it in the form Yorkshire are I'm afraid to say a side you do not want to under-estimate in this and could upset the form book (3/1 on Paddy Power). If you back Somerset (12/5 on Paddy Power) then you might aswell put your money down the grid as for me they have been serial bottlers for several years and should have won every major domestic trophy but have won instead sweet FA! ;) |
Nice one CT
Glad to see you back mate, hope alls well in your world ~ I had a chat with Ed on Tuesday (you know the story):'D What a shower on that thread ~ Anyways like you, I said, 'bye bye', tonight :gn:
Anyway, back to your post, is this betting for this weekend, or when :h?: Tony might know o:D |
Hi m8y!,
Glad to be back on a forum which I regard as a blooming decent one and well run too and certainly will be on here a bit more from now on!. As for you know what, I also spoke to Ed and probably aired the same views to him as your good self and for me it is just a complete utter shower and total shambles and I thought the sensible thing to do was to walk away and cut all my ties with certain individuals and just get on with my life and associate myself with people who I respect, like and for me have an air of decency about them and are not afraid to air their opinions. Anyway let's forget about that, T20 finals day is on the August Bank Holiday weekend and it would be interesting to find out from any site what the odds are of there being a "super over" because having finals day at Cardiff especially if the weather is iffy is asking for trouble imo and last year at Edgbaston both SF's went into "super overs" and I've just got a feeling that if rain intervenes, D/L method comes into play then there could be plenty of twists and turns. |
Im fairly big on the cricket ..
I like the look of Sussex to and at around 9/4 could be the value CT Yes its a Sussex v Hampshire final... |
Afternoon all!
Hope everyone is doing well!..... Obviously I'm still sulking that my beloved Lancashire got relegated from Division 1 of the LV County Championship and that team who shall not be named won promotion to Division 1 but Lancs will bounce back I am sure of it. Well watching the off field antics of the England Cricket Team regarding central contracts and one Mr Kevin Pietersen has been on a par with episodes of the Magic Roundabout and England could not have asked for an easier Winter tour than a trip to India - NOT!!! England's record on the sub-continent is truly woeful and had they retained the World T20 title in Sri Lanka I would have fancied the upcoming test series to be a close knit affair but you could probably write the script for this test series of every pitch being flat as a pancake and I am going to go for the following: Test Matches: 2-0 (India) T20'S: 1-1 ODI'S: 3-2 (England) As regards the first Test, I think India will win inside 4 days and for a bit of value should he play that is I would be very tempted to back Joe Root to be England's 1st innings top runscorer (5/1 on Paddy Power) |
Nice one Craig .. glk m8 hope all's well with you, (still getting the lot are you ) o:D
I'll have a couple of quid on this bet of yours .. glk  |
Hi Bazza,
I'm doing well m8 and I hope your good self is doing the same! :). Happy to say you can find little old me playing my Poker elsewhere online on either Encore or Grosvenor and certainly enjoy Poker 10 million times more than a certain other site I used to play on quite regular!. With regards my cricket tips, I seriously think you cannot go wrong with having a few quid on Joe Root to be England's top run scorer in the 1st innings should he play of course but it's laughable that Paddy Power have made Pietersen 3/1 to be top run-scorer in the 1st as there is no way on this earth he will have a test-match mindset especially coming off the back of his IPL gravy train exploits. |
Evening all!
Hope everyone is doing well...... In the next couple of days I shall be listing my county cricket bets for the forthcoming season however I have put my bets on for the US Masters Golf yesterday in Chester and this is what I have backed (all ew): Charl Schwartzel........................................ ... 16/1 Justin Rose.............................................. ......20/1 KJ Choi.............................................. .100/1 Thomas Bjorn............................................. ...150/1 For me Rose at 20/1 is an absolute juicy price because for an European that probably knows how these US courses better than any other European in my honest opinion, certainly think not backing him would be scandalous especially on current form. Eldrick at 3's for me is too short a price, Mcilroy is all over the shop form wise and for me cannot see it being a two horse race |
Hi ya Craig ..
I see you've been traveling Europe, hope you had a great time .. Yes some of the boys here a big golfing fans so hopefully your 'pick's will help all .. Good luck and welcome home :loveme: |
Hi Bazza,
Yes certainly had a much needed 6 days away in both Berlin and Glasgow which was very enjoyable and it was also the first time ever that I've been in 3 countries within 1 day as it was a case of coming back from Germany my travel on the Monday was the following: Berlin-Manchester Airport - Manchester Piccadilly - Glasgow. The latter I'll admit ended up disappointing as what I was meant to be going for in Glasgow didn't happen but I took a lot of positives from the Glasgow trip, ended up with an extra night free gratis which was very welcome and have made a load of new friends out of the experience so I'm well happy with that!. |
County Cricket Season starts tomorrow - Woooooooohooooooooo
So here are my predictions of who I am going to tip for the trophies this season: LVCC Division 1 - Warwickshire 4/1 (Literally cannot see anyone giving Warwicks a fright this season and certainly could be the most boring Division 1 ever!) LVCC Division 2 - Lancashire 4/1 (For me the Division 2 title is either coming to Old Trafford or it's going to the South Coast where certainly Kent and Hampshire will run Lancs close this season) YB40 - Essex 16/1 (Always do well in the league format but seem to bottle it during the latter stages of the competition but Chelmsford is certainly not an easy place to get a victory and if they have a good solid consistent start they are certainly a good shout for this) Friends Life T20 - Middlesex 25/1 (Usually the long time favourites for the T20 never win it and Middlesex are one of those teams who will not be fancied but could get on with it quietly, upset the form book again and win the trophy for a 2nd time) |
glk Craig .. If the main man says so, it must be worth a few shackles .
Enjoy your season, i assume were going to get some decent weather soon  |
Where's Craig
Rumour has it he's sat in the pavillion at Lords swigging Stella with a couple of mates :t:
I'm only saying this because thats where he was in the pictures ive seen on his 'facebook' page .. (Wonder what he does when there's no cricket, apart from play poker, "Life's Tough" ehh Craig):king: Anyways .. at lunch (2nd day) Aussies 44-1 v England 361 all out .. I've heard England have only ever beaten the Aussies at Lords in ashes games twice .. I'm not a 'stats' man .. BUT to me (what do i know):frog: I think the Aussies will bang up a big score 550+ put England under so much pressure that this test will be in the bag before 'tea' on Sunday .. 5/2 looks massoove :flowers: I'll have to go and find Craig , see if he can tell me what he thinks ... |
How wrong can you be
Australia 1st innings 128 all out ............. 3:-)
|
Hi remember me o:D
Just want to wish everyone a belated happy new year and hope everyone is well lol. Right it's that time of the year again when the domestic cricket season is fast approaching and here are a few bets that might tickle your fancy: Division 1 County Championship Tip - Lancashire (13/2) Now those who know me are probably thinking typical biased CT backing his beloved county cricket side but to be honest I cannot see any side in Division 1 running away with it this year and am somewhat surprised Notts are bookies favourites at 4/1 because the last couple of seasons they have somewhat been very inconsistent in the 4 day game and have been very lucky to stay up and I personally think they could be a shock bet for the drop. Division 2 County Championship - Hampshire (4/1) mainly because all round they have strength in depth and if England calls don't hamper some of their key players, I can see them going up this coming season. However Kent at 7/1 looks a tasty little punt as with Darren Stevens being able to resume his Kent career after his not guilty verdict in the BPL Match-Fixing Case and Doug Bollinger as overseas player, Kent will go into this season not thinking they are going to be one of the whipping boys and could maintain a serious challenge for honours. Natwest T20 Blast - More games than ever before will come into fruition with the Natwest T20 Blast and the holders Northants are at 14/1 and they have to make Wantage Road a fortress after last year's success but I can't see it happening and the T20 always seems to have a less fancied side winning this competition and one team impressed me quite a bit last year and have an overall good all-round side and my tip for this is an outsider - Glamorgan (25/1). Royal London 50 over Cup - Warwickshire (10/1) |
Welcome back Craig 8-P
And thanks for this, as always top man at this cricket malarky  I'll take a look at these picks just as soon a the Cheltenham Festival is over with a view to a summer yankee .... Thanks again, and don't be a stranger .. You're always welcome and i'm sure Tony and others will be interested in what you say on the cricket as the season gets under way .. Top man o:D |
