Calamity 'James' taKes over !

David James has won the battle of the England keepers in Cape Town.

James has been recalled at the expense of ousted Robert Green.

Even as late as yesterday, it seemed Green would be given the chance to atone for his crass blunder against the United States last weekend, which cost England victory in their opening Group C game.

However, after another couple of mistakes in training last night, Capello has turned to James, who started the first 13 matches of the Italian's reign.

The veteran's last competitive start came against the Ukraine at Wembley in April 2009, although he did play the majority of the return encounter in Dnepr after Green had been sent off.

Emile Heskey has held off a late challenge from Jermain Defoe to partner Wayne Rooney in attack.

Jamie Carragher starts his first international for three years as replacement for the injured Ledley King, while Gareth Barry comes into the starting line-up at the expense of James Milner.

Barry's involvement allowed Capello to shunt captain Steven Gerrard into a more offensive role as England looked to assume pole position.

Victory by two or more goals would ensure England needed only a draw from their last game against Slovenia to advance, as would a high-scoring single goal triumph

glk England 8-P

bennythedip2 June 18th, 2010 19:19

Half Time 0-0

Well ya cant blame the keeper for that first half :-C England .. no zest . no ideas and if this stays 0-0 at the final whistle ... no chance of winning this group yet alone the cup

bennythedip2 June 18th, 2010 19:36

ffs, get Joe Cole and Crouch on the field QUICK :brains:

TheCaptain June 18th, 2010 19:45

Any free kick in our half - They are taking a 30yd run up and hitting it... if they get one on target, think they will score.

TheCaptain June 18th, 2010 19:46

While we are trying to neatly roll the ball into their net.....

bennythedip2 June 18th, 2010 19:47

at last

A sub coming on Wright-Phillips:loveme:

TheCaptain June 18th, 2010 19:48

Hope so - Needs something

TheCaptain June 18th, 2010 19:53

Heskeys defending... does that not sum it up?

TheCaptain June 18th, 2010 19:54

Think they will get slaughtered in the papers tomorrow - even if they now score 3

bennythedip2 June 18th, 2010 20:05

jeez-us

Gerrard and Lampard cant even take a corner between them and Gerrard is playing like a Sunday league reserve player :gh:

TheCaptain June 18th, 2010 20:09

They are over complicating it - Get the ball and smack it

bennythedip2 June 18th, 2010 20:09

oh at last

Crouch's coming on o:D

bennythedip2 June 18th, 2010 20:23

JOKE 0-0 ...... No stewards enquiry here , the whole team were useless , oh except the goalie James o:D

Whats our chances now against a South American side :'D .. :gn:

taylormade June 18th, 2010 20:38

Disgraceful, If there arent atleast 6 changes for next game,Capello should be ousted, and all players in this squad shouldnt play for england again.
Drop Rooney,Lampard,Terry,Heskey,Johnson,Lennon,Im ashamed to be english and will be getting the pishh taking out of me all week by the tartan army. I predicted 8-0,we didnt have 3 shots on target.

Pkrplaya June 18th, 2010 20:51

Agree with Taylormade :eek!: Drop em all, get Stuart Pearce and Bekham on lol.
Seriously, how long are England managers going to play Gerrard and Lampard together? We've had years to see it doesn't work :C Drop Lampard and Gerrard will turn into a captain.
Probably the worst England performance i've ever seen :h?: Whats wrong with Rooney? Looks unfit or injured to me. Barnes looks fitter o:D
3-3-4 next game Fabio, I hope your reading this 8-P

Pkrplaya June 18th, 2010 20:56

Highlight of the game was watching a bird sat on the net :girl:

Tony2005 June 18th, 2010 21:48

The sooner the FA realise that having a foriegn manager for our national team just doesnt work the sooner we might start to compete in finals again...

Capello cant even speak English so how he can motivate players is beyond me...

To overpaid and too over rated...

Although i did lay England at 10/1 fo a few of my mates...8-P

Part-Timer June 18th, 2010 23:41

Last year Capello had balls and picked our best team, he has either lost the plot or is following instructions. What are Heskey, SWP and Lennon doing in the squad. The 2 worst players on the pitch tonight were Rooney and Lampard in that order.

bennythedip2 June 19th, 2010 02:15

lol

yes he new he was safe there with England attacking that goal 8-P

Tony2005 June 19th, 2010 06:25

SWP has only played a bit part for City last season but still gets on in both games and does nothing.

These are players who play at the highest leval week in week out so i dont buy the "under massive pressure" bit.

As for Rooney and his comments to the camera as he walked off....:eek!:

An utter disgrace....

People have been saving for ages to go and support England and to have one of the major players saying that after we all saw they were pish poor needes looking into...

Here it is if you missed it..

New theory and probably original one is because no wags are out there, the boys have been out whoring around and contracted venereal diseases, did anyone notice how our lads were often covering their tackle with their hands and rubbing their legs, looked lethargic and couldnt be arsed, clasic symptoms of VD.

Im taking your word for that diagnosis.......:eek!::eek!:

Pkrplaya June 23rd, 2010 16:40

Never in doubt o:D Well done England and USA

taylormade June 23rd, 2010 21:32

although a much improved overall performance, its obvious to me Terry,Lampard and Rooney should be dropped. There performances have been very poor and England need a change to have any hope against the jerries, Taylormade team and formation below.

----------------------------- james--------------------------

johnson------- -------upson -------dawson --------------cole

----------------------------carrick---------------------------

----------milner -------------------------------barry----------

------------------------------ gerrard------------------------

----------------- crouch ---------------defoe-----------------

cole and johnson to push on into midfield when possible as there seems far to much space in there for our opponents.centre halfs to squeeze up to,dont give them jerries any space in midfield

As football is a girls game that I don't bother to watch that much, can I make an observation. The 3 biggest national team problems I recall were, 1 Keane being kicked out of the Irish team, 2 G. Neville saying the English players were going on strike, 3 P. Evra kicking off about the Coach.
What have all 3 players got in common?

only1herbie June 23rd, 2010 23:14

heheheheheheh:clap::clap::clap:
