Tonights boxing..Judgement Day..

Plenty of boxing on tonight with ITV showing the WBC super middleweight title fight between Nottinghams new star Carl Froch and Canada's Jean Pascal...

Both fighters are unbeaten but Froch is by far the higher rated of the twoand if he is to get the fight he wants against Joe Calzaghe he will need to win this and win it well.

Froch has looked good since turning pro and i expect him to win this by round eight in what should be quite competetive for the first few rounds until Froch's bigger hitting takes its toll on Pascal.

On to the Sky Box Office fights that start with the return of Amir Khan who u can be sure is in with a very light puncher Oisin Fagan
Rogan has gone the distance with a few half decent fighters but i feel he is just fodder here to make Khan look good again.
Khan should win this within four rounds..

Ordinary Harrison is also on the bill and should be too big and to strong for another Irish fighter Martin Rogan.

The big fight will take place in Vegas at around 3.30am our time and sees Manny Pacquiao who is thought to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world taking on The Golden Boy Oscar De La Hoya...

Pac Man has been a great champion but why hes is taking this fight only money must be the reason.
De La Hoya is much the bigger man here and at 1/2 looks outstanding value and Paddy Power are giving money away by quoting 11/10 the fight doesnt go the distance...

Pacquiao just hasnt got the power to hurt De La Hoya and i see him walking through the smaller man to win by ko or stopage within seven rounds and set up a super fight with our own Ricky Hatton.

Sky have made a major boob here making this a Box Office event as not too many are that bothered in Khan at the moment and the Vegas fight will be on much too late for us fight fans to be really intrested in staying up for..

I will post a link on here at around 7pm tonight for anyone who wants to watch the box office fights for FREE...

good post Tony and for once i totally agree with all your selections o:D and your right the fight everyone wants to see is hatton v oscar now that could be a step to far for hatton my heart says hatton will win but my head says oscar will be too strong but hey that may be some time away

Tony2005 December 6th, 2008 12:52

Ty Lee...

Yes i see Hatton struggling against The Golden BOY it would have to be at Welterweight and i dont think Hatton is big enough to worry De La Hoya at the weight...

Manny Pacquiao @ 7/4 all to win o:D

Tony2005 December 6th, 2008 18:40

Lol that will probably come in..

Tony2005 December 6th, 2008 21:53

Amir Khan wins in

round two when the corner threw in the towel .....

An absolute farce....the Irish bloke hit about as hard as Paddington Bear....8-P

Sky are back to talking him up just so they can put on another box office.

When he steps up again it will be goodnight for good..

Tony2005 December 6th, 2008 23:00

Froch wins classic

What a great fight and maybe fight of the year with Nottinghams Carl Froch coming out on top wirh a unnanimas points victory,

Both fighters threw plenty of big punches early on but Froch's granite chin held up and in the second half of the fight he took control to win a superb fight.

So once again ITV have got one over on sky who's box office fights were just a waste of money as all three were total mismatches,,,

Hopefully sky will wise up to this and give all its subscribers a chance to watch boxing at no extra cost...

The end for De Le Hoya....?

Sometimes age in boxing catches up with you just at the wrong moment and thats what happened to DLH last night.

Against a 4" shorter fighter DLH was taken apart and when his corner finally stopped the battering after the 8th round he was Eight rounds behind.

The Pac Man was much too quick and much to acurate for the ageing DLH who seemed to shuffle in to punching range but just never threw any when he got there and was easily picked off.

This has to be the end now for DLH who has nowhere to go in the boxing game after this defeat... and he can retire with all his millions and concentrate in his Golden Boy promotions company who promotes a lot of the biggest fighters in the world.

DLE was a great fighter and champion but as we saw last night too many great fighters just dont know when to call it a day.....

I didnt watch it but Pacquiao is class, i could never bet against him o:D I watched the Froch fight but forgot to back him. My Filipino mate has been backing Pacquiao like defeat was out of the question :eek!: im sure he had the right round aswell  Hes the most famous person over there except maybe the president lol so im chuffed for him if he picked up a decent payday :t:

Tony2005 December 7th, 2008 10:37
