Euro 2008 Football Comp
 

hi guys just wanted to run something by you that i am very interested in doing.

what i am looking to do is start with a bank of £25 and place one bet per day (everyday) at £5.00 (so we have a starting bank of 5 bets)


we will all work together to try and find the best value bet for that day, i will put up different markets and would like you all to give ur views on the markets available for that day

then once everyone has added their input we will take out the 3 most popular selections and we will take a vote to find our "bet of the day"

once euro 2008 has finished any money that is in the bank will go into a prizepool for a stt/mtt where anyone can join who added something to the challenge

so for example lets say after the final of euro 2008 we have a bank of £95 then this £95 will be added to a stt/mtt where anyone who took part in this challenge can pay $5 to enter

lets just say we get 12 people from here who make a contribution to the discussion then that will be 12 x $5 plus $190 from the euro2008 betting, givng us a total of $250 prizepool

all bets will be placed by me, i am putting up the £25, once its gone its gone (but we wont have 5 losing bets 8-P)

im looking to call it "talksport vs the bookies" challenge is to end euro 2008 in profit, then all have a good friendly game of poker after it

i do this on another forum, we started it at the start of last season and we all added £25 (23 of us altogether) so we started with a bank of £575 and we placed a £50 single every single saturday, and once we built are bank up we started placing £100 and sometimes £200 singles

we ended the season with £7042 and we just divided it up between ourselves

2 guys dissappeared b4 the season ended so it was divid up between 21 of us where we all got £335 each 8-P

was a good laugh over the course of the season

if there is enough support for it, then i will start a new thread entitled "talksport vs the bookies" and will put all the info everyone needs to know on it

hopefully we can get a few interested

Happy to let you do your thing here until money gets involved, so a warning to anyone getting financialy involved in this, be careful as hes a known welcher,who has been known not to pay up.Various usernames on other forums include mystery, laddiesking, betdevil, goonerz and loads more. I personally would not trust you Shaun, but its up to others to make there mind up, just dont want to see good people on here get ripped off. You can understand why im saying this as its a good community and i want to protect that. Feel free to do whatever you want man and the rest of you lot. Alot of you probably know all this anyway, but just incase.

Explain if you need to,your views on this, but please keep the abuse out of it. Like i said happy for you to do your thing on here but i class alot of people on here as mates and feel i should speak up just so everyone knows what they might be getting into, i know you havent asked for any money but people will no doubt offer to chip in.

so many markets to choose from, im drooling!

both teams to qualify from their group

group A

i havent decided yet between portugal and c rep @ 2.73 or portugal and switzerland @ 3.94

c rep arent the team they were 4-6 years ago and with switzerland having home advantage i think they could go through with portugal.

the 1st game between switzerland and c rep is crucial with the winners going through, but i think it will be a 1-1 draw

group B

got to be germany and croatia for me @ 1.83, i think both teams will be too strong for poland and austria, poland had a very good qualifying campaign, but germany and croatia are a step above them

group C

really really tough group to predict this, any of 2 these 4 could go through, the bookies are massivly under estimating romania in my opinion, they are a very decent team and had a great qualifying campaign. very crucial game the 1st one v france, my early thoughts are that holland and france will go through @ 4.09

group D

spain and russia for me @ 3.86

spain should comfortably top the group and i think russia are better than greece and sweden

bet365 have group forecast where u pick who will come 1st and 2nd in each group, the minimum odds for picking the 1st and 2nd in each of the 4 groups is 355/1 (thats picking the 2 favs from each group) if u can find the 2 qualifiers from each group you can make a good bit of cash here, if the 2 favs from each group go through thats 355/1

once u pick you're 2 from each group and perm your bets so either can come 1st or 2nd it is a total of 16 bets, so for £16 you are looking at a minimum of £355 returns for finding the 2 qualifiers from each group, got to be worth a punt this bet!!

leading goalscorer

couple of players stand out for me, benzema at 33/1 is a crazy price, but i am not too sure if he is going to play, he never played in the qualifiers, if he starts for france 33/1 must be snapped up at 1/4 odds 1,2,3,4 place, you are getting 8.25 that he finishes in he top 4.

others that stand out are martin petric (croatia) @ 40/1, huntelaar (holland) @ 50/1, klose (germany) @ 9/1 and torress (spain) @ 11/1

longshot is pavlychenko (russia) @ 125/1

its going to be 3 weeks of cracking football and hopefully plenty of profit!

I was happy to leave you to it after my first rant but when you blatently lie to me, its like a red rag to a bull. On Ladbrokes old forum, i remember lots of bravado betting between, "mystery" and "ruddock", also "mystery" and "plymlegend" about whose football team would finish higher in the league, the threads went on for months, and to be honest they were boring to me and others, because there was only going to be one result.."Bets being called off" :gh:
Now im not condoning or agreeing with any of those that were involved, and maybe any of these people aren't " themanwiththeknow", but in my opinion they were all betting a loser and really couldn't have hoped to get paid.
It was a open forum that had many people, acting like they were "Rambo" with people saying such thing's as, "I bet you "blah blah blah" and loads of nonsense poker challenges and football challenge bets . The trouble is, once a bet like that is placed verbally on a open forum, your first thought is, "will i get paid if i win:h?: and in reality you know you wont :-C
My thoughts are as to whether anyone here was involved in these betting rows, "well should they have paid or been paid" or, "could they expect to have been paid".............No, not really !!!
I know all about 'gentleman's agreement's' and 'men of honour' and 'my word is my bond' but as i have said that was an open forum, full of "Rambo's" chanting "don't push me" !!.... I feel that if "manwiththeknow" wants to run a competition that he his going to finance for the forum members to enjoy and benefit from...that's great. However, nobody should be asked to to put monies into an event that is controlled by someone, taking that money to put into an account owned by the organiser !!
Finally i would like to thank "Pkaplaya" for bringing the matter to the forum member's attention and over these last months he has been a person i have grown to respect, not just his knowledge of racing and sports but also for the way he conduct's and writes his post's, with great enthusiasm that brings us together as a community:clap:
So if all you guys want to do this football competition fine, as long as nobody has to part with money, i cant see a problem..!!

look i am going to set the record straight once and for all

i know mystery21/laddiesking, he is my brother

i know what he is like and quite frankly he is an arrogant twit at times, when all that went off on ladbrokes forum i was sick of me being accused as him

so thats why i left, as far as i know he was permanantly banned from laddies forum, if he is back as betdevil or whatever i have no knowledge, i havent seen/spoke to im in like 4months

i have been a member here for god knows how long and have never once acted the big man, boasting about this and that, and i have never abused anyone

mystery21/laddesking cannot go to a forum and be nice, he has to act the big man eveywhere hes goes, always has to cause trouble and is alays looking for conflict, that isnt me, we are like chalk and cheese

i didnt want people to know i was his brother as you would automatically think it was me or tarnish us both with the same brush,

I have heard the its my brother line from many of his aliases including laddiesking :h?: If you cant see the lies then or choose to ignore them thats not my problem. Believe it or not i actually find him quite entertaining o:D and personally has not done anything to me. I like the idea of the footy thing although i wont be involved and am happy to leave you all to it. You have been warned, just dont expect to actually get any money from it and it will all go fine. Well with the dust settling and the sheet lightning :storm: from the storm having calmed, it's good to see were getting some positive feed in the thread.
Well done all, the only other thing ive noticed is about our 'latest member' :frog: (fattyandboldy) I spoke to him in a poker game on Laddies last week(he has a new alias there) and invited him here.
Now those of us from Ladbrokes remember him as a ranting tyrant in that forum, and i for one had many an argument with him but i also remember that in most cases it was a couple of other individuals that seemed to set things off. I have spoken to him in private messaging and he was full of compliments about the site and how well it's run, and he speaks highly of you as well guys:'D...

So as Tony(Soprano) has said, in his 'mafia tones':cool:..."no messin or you swim with the fishes"...!!!!
