My thoughts
The first hand
AJ is horrible to play from early – mid position (in fact I don’t like AJ much at all). The pre flop raise is not enough. I would have called on the big blind with nearly any two cards. I like the fact that you did bet the flop, but again not enough? Why show the cards at the end??
What can we learn? Maybe don’t play AJ from early positions? Raise more than double the blinds preflop if you are going to enter a pot?
2nd hand
Dead easy...... stop limping in to pots!! Playing rag aces like that will only get you into trouble especially when you get a bit of the flop.

there are hands I will limp in with, ie small pocket pairs or suited connectors. these types of hans are easy to get away from if you miss the flop or are a raised.

Just read hands three and four, the theme is the same!! Limped in (why limp with pocket 9s?? What flop are you looking for??) limping is either allowing other players to out draw you or out play you after the flop!!

next time you are chipped up in a MTT and at this stage, if you feel you cannot raise with your hand when entering a pot then fold. lets see if that improves your finishing position.

Yes have to agree there....Im not a lover of AJ either but nearing the final table i thought its a hand worth playing...:brains:

But i thought the same with regard to the bet....I should have come in bigger

The main thing was i didnt really need to get involved with these hands as i could have made the FT fairly easily but the top 4 were getting away a bit so wanted to get a few chips...

Yes poor play by me..

I limped in to trap the PKR MANAGER who had a £50 bounty......:eek!:

Hoping he was going to re raise all in...

The last hand i couldnt get away from on that flop....:'D

Think those plays were just a little unlucky as most of the time i would have won at least one of those...

Yes i think this is a good point...

But i am also trying to be a little more aggressive when nearing FT with chips..

Think the tight way might be better to get to FT and then give it a go there...?

Herbies tips!

Be aggresive when you think you are winning or the other player is "at it"
you are not interested in other peopes chip stack against your own! but you are interested in your chip stack againts the blind size.

Yes Herbie i will take this advice onboard and hopefully with a bit more thought can make a few final tables over the next few days as by the looks of things i wont be going out or having much horse racing to watch (althouh Southwell is on)....

The strange thing is im having no real problem building a decent stack and thats something i didnt used to do well.....

You must be getting some good cards then 8-P I've not been playing more than a couple of games a year for a while so am out of shape but agree with Herbie o:D
If you come up against the macdaddy make sure you've got the worst hand or else he'll win o:D
I need to start playing again. Watched some on TV last night and could see so many mistakes being made, so I think I've still got it lol :loveme: Its easy when you can see the cards o:D
Where's worth playing mtts for very small buyins lately? Like a pound or 2 entry :'D where theres not just crazy French players? Sky? anyone played there lately?
