As far as the lion’s tours being scrapped I would like to feel some empathy with true rugby union fans but I feel that the sport lost out when , after England won the world cup the sports leagues and major cup competitions did not end up being shown live on terrestrial television. Very short term thinking! I truly believe that if at this time the major stakeholders of the game had taken the “less profitable” but more watched route to the TV market then we would have a serious contender for football as the nations “game”.
